The wonderful shadows are cast by a semicircular window just above floor level.

There was not a good time to take images when there were no shadows when the library was open!

The rocks were moved around many times as different ideas came to the fore, but this was the end result - at least on this day.

Here you can see some of the other fibres used - silks and flax along with a variety of different wools.

The unbleached flax gives a particularly interesting line when felted in.

Our large cat May was obliging one day in the garden, posing and sleeping with some of the felted rocks.

Information On Materials Used

All the rocks are real rocks covered in naturally coloured sheeps wool with the exception of the black which is dyed merino. The other types of wool used include blue faced Leicester in different shades, Black Welsh,white merino. Other fibres that have been felted in include bleached and unbleached flax, tussah silk and mulberry silk. Wet felting techniques used exclusively.
